Operation Frosty

Today started out being nothing out of the ordinary. It wasn’t until evening fell when things commenced.

I was invited with a bunch of people to go see The Avengers. I, having nothing better to do all day, went. Totally worth it, and not just because it was the best movie I’ve seen in a long time. We all met up at the theater and got our tickets. This particular theater apparently will not let you enter the actual auditorium until 10 minutes prior to the start time on the ticket. I just think that’s silly. Anyway, we got in our seats and we were very entertained how our group filled exactly one row. We can be easily amused when it comes to these things. More

Pottermore

So Pottermore finally has been released to the public. I signed up last night. It’s not quite what I was expecting. I thought it was going to be an online environment of Hogwarts where me and everyone else online would cast spells and brew potions. Instead most of it was much closer to us going thru the Harry Potter books once again.

And there is no reason that it should have taken so long to be released. Exploring each scene is incredibly basic stuff. You can zoom in and out (which just sets different things in focus) and then collect stuff for your trunk of take a closer look at things.  The closer look is very nice, it is JK Rowling sort of talking about what she was thinking when she was writing. Like she explained why the Dursleys lived on Privet drive in Little Whinging or the Original 40. I didn’t really read many of those, I’ll go back and read all them later. More

RetroMeme

Hey guys. I’ve been wanting to post this for a while, and as I’m typing I realize that my list of things I wanted to talk about I completely forgot except for one. And I just remmebered two more so let’s go!

So I had this idea a while back, it’s a website. I’d call it retromeme.com. The idea is that it has old retired memes that used to be all the rage. I’m not sure how old something must be for it to be retro… Arrow to the knee might be too young, but if I was to go on today I would see stuff like, “but I have good news. I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico.” It’d be a great form of nostalgia just to see what we thought was funny way back when. Or to laugh at how stupid we were for laughing at other things.

And I baked bread yesterday! I grew up baking. Not as much as my sister, but I kind of did. I started by helping her or one of my parents bake, and eventually I would just start doing my own thing. But I only really knew how to make cookies and cakes. That was the stuff that I helped them make. So then my sister sent me a bread recipe that she got in culinary school and I tried it. It is a lot more time consuming than I thought. With cakes you can probably go from start to finish in less than an hour. Bread is not like that at all. You kind of need to work on it all day a bit. Now I really see why bakers have to start work so early. I’m gonna try again some other time. Not sure when….

And I had Tae Kwon Do last night. I have it three times a week (ideally, sometimes I miss a day or two). I have no idea but after I got home my left leg got very sore when I picked it up. It still is. I have no idea how that happened. It’s not that bad at all, I’ve had much worse in the past. I just felt like complaing for a second.

And I have an idea for the novel I’m going to write! Daniel has been helping me brainstorm certain things. I’m probably going to do something like last week only slightly tweaked. Instead of spending the whole day writing, I’m going to spend the whole day working on my book. So at this point I will be planning and outline. Hope it goes better this time!

The Scourge of the Cavern

Alright, here is the story that I decided to spend today writing. I wanted to write all day, I ended up only working on it for about an hour. And I had three ideas of where to go with it and couldn’t really choose one. Eventually I got to the point where I couldn’t choose any of them. I may start writing this story again. I have ideas in my head and soon I shall let them escape in written form. More

Spring term is here

Spring term of classes have started. I say that and we are almost thru with the first week. Yeah, I’m on time. I have no idea how this term will go. Now I’m just trying to get classes that I can survive with a bit of free time in. I want to just spend as much time writing as I can, which I simply think is fantastic as less than a month ago I wasn’t considering being an author because I wasn’t motivated enough to just sit down and write for hours on end. And now that is exactly what I want! I can now actually see myself being an author. The only problem is school is sucking up all of my time in such a way that makes it difficult for me to write when I want to. This Saturday I’m going to try and see what it’d be like if I did choose writing as a career. I’m going to wake up and work all day. I’ll treat it as a 9-5 job. See where I get. Anyone have any suggestions for what I should write?

So anyway, my classes this term seem potentially fun. Thankfully almost all of my classes I have a friend in. That just doesn’t seem to happen to me when I sign up for classes. I then always have to make new friends and then we then never talk when the term is over. Then I’m kind of depressed when I think about it, but I survive as I still have my close friends. That’s what truly matters in the long run. Not the friendly people you pass, but the friends you take with you.

Now, I don’t know where you guys are all from, but we’ve been having some really wacky weather here. Wackier than normal. Yesterday it was alternating between sunny and hailing all day. I left my house for Tai Chi and it was hailing. When I get there it is just raining. After class it’s sunny all the way to my theater class. I got a pleasant surprise when I arrived at that building. There was a flower bush and I saw a couple hummingbirds fluttering around it. I’ve seen them before, but never that close. I could see all the colors of its feathers, the blur of its wings. Beautiful birds they are. Easily one of my favorites. I don’t know what my favorite bird is though… what’s yours?

There were a couple things that I was wanting to post in this but I can’t seem to remember them at the moment. Oh well, what are you gonna do? I guess that’s just a reason for me to do another post again soon!

Emerald City and Hunger Games

Hey everyone! Sorry about the delay in posting this blog. I started typing it a few days ago and then my laptop died from some virus. I have yet to find out the problem, but it was probably it’s time anyway. I’ve had that laptop for 5 years now, and even when I first got received the laptop it was a year old. And over it’s life span of 6 years we have done very little in terms of upgrading. So, it was just time for it to go.

Anyway, what I was going to say was I spent this past weekend in Seattle with a friend of mine. We went up so we could go to Emerald City Comic Con on Saturday. That was a lot of fun, hopefully I can be a little bit more prepared for the next convention I go to. I didn’t even dress up! I saw many cosplayers though who had fantastic costumes. They obviously put a lot more time into it than I would have. More

Home for a Week

Hello all. I’m back home for about a week during spring break. I will continue to try and update this every couple days if I can. There are a number of distractions (which is just bound to happen while on vacation) but I won’t let them stop me from making stories. So anticipate me posting another story here in a day or so.

Also, when I logged on today I saw I got views today. I’m gonna say whoo! Mainly because I feel like that’s the first big step. I am not advertising this blog to any of my friends, at least not yet. I want to try and get my stories to be known by themselves. I want the word of mouth to begin, not with the author, but by the fans. If worst comes to worst then I’ll tell people about it. Dunno how long I should wait… we’ll see.

In the mean time, I’ve been reading writing prompts (mainly from writersdigest.com) trying to get some inspiration for future stories. I’m wanting to avoid just posting stories that Ive written over the years, but that allows for writer’s block to hit me all over again. They’ve been a great help.

Anyway, I can’t wait to continue writing and hearing what you guys all have to say about what you’ve read. I’m always open to a little constructive critism, that’s how people get better. Just keep it constructive. Thanks!
